The purpose of closing your eyes at the beginning of each class is to cleanse your mind of all stressful thoughts and to concentrate only on the movements you're about to perform.

At the end of class, we must again clear our thoughts to help retain what was taught and to relax the body.

Without mind and spirit, movements are empty.
